Our Development Ambassador and Patrons programme

We are looking for enthusiastic people who are not only passionate about Africa, but are also proactive, creative, and willing to promote the cause of AU Watch and support key activities linked to brand promotion and the work of the organization.

We appreciate that our Ambassadors lead busy lives with limited spare time, however, the role of an Ambassador doesn’t demand a lot of time and offers a great opportunity to make a significant contribution and give back to Africa and indeed AU Watch in a rewarding and fulfilling way.

What Do Ambassadors and Patrons Do?
Our Ambassadors serve as key contacts and advocates of the organization. Ambassadors help to raise the profile of AU Watch, promote AU Watch programs and help to lead alumni engagement activity in their city or country.

They introduce us to new supporters and increase awareness of the work we do in Africa. Their personal credibility, network and passion are crucial in ensuring that AU Watch plays a role in shaping a more effective AU and an Africa that is looking forward to 2063. Our Patrons have a passion for Africa, a better AU and its power to empower lives. They validate and countersign our work in a variety of ways. They attend workshops and performances, meeting and inspiring our participants.

Our Ambassadors and patrons give their time and energy to help us promote the work of the organization. From hosting events and taking on personal fundraising challenges to meeting with AU and AUMS officials, writing forwards, their support is greatly appreciated and integral in helping us reach a wider audience.


The role comprises a range of activity which can be broadly categorized into four key areas:

a. Promoting AU Watch to others in their personal, professional and online networks;
b. Offering information, advice and guidance to the Governing Council and Senior Membership Team
c. Supporting the organization to raise funds
d. Supporting the growth of alumni engagement activity in their city or country of residence

Our Human Rights envoys
Our Human Rights envoys helps us to promote and protect human rights in Africa. these are donors who enjoy a range of opportunities to engage with AU Watch on a personal and corporate level. They support the organization as a whole or by supporting or focusing on particular human rights project or research or development programs that interest them the most. In addition to giving cash or securities, donors can name AU Watch as the beneficiary of life insurance policies and other estate planning vehicles.
