Alliance for African Women Initiative (AFAWI) is a non governmental, non profit grassroots organisation working in support women and vulnerable children across Ghana. Our work concentrate on economic women empowerment, promotion of women right, advocacy towards obtaining sustainable development for women and children in Ghana and also building partnership such as offering volunteering and internship opportunities in support of women and children.

Zawadisha

Zawadisha provides small loans for items with big impact to rural Kenyan women to help finance their livelihoods. Loans for solar lamps get toxic and expensive paraffin out of homes and make it easier for children to study. Rain water harvesting tanks free up nearly six hours per day so women can spend time tending to their small businesses. Loans for clean cook stoves reduce the entire family’s dependence upon charcoal, a costly and harmful fuel responsible for deforestation and disease. We follow up with leadership and business training to help these women maximize the potential of their loans, test out ideas, cultivate businesses, and develop their leadership skills.
