AU WATCH

Get Involved

We hold our states managers to account. We keep their feet close over the fire. Our works embarrasses and threaten the legitimacy of their regimes. We thus attract the attention of power-holders, who then very often turn their patterns of persecution and oppression against HRDs, often in a more violent manner than against those whom the HRDs are trying to protect.

Join us, by supporting our work!

AU Watch Human Rights Defenders Celebrating International Human Rights Day

This day is celebrated internationally to honour 10th Dec 1948, when the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at Palais de Challoit, Paris after the experience of the Second World War. This was one of the first major achievements of the United Nations.

So, it only seems fitting this Human Rights Day we do not forget Human Rights Defenders who are tirelessly fighting for the rights of all of us.
